Planting with Mrs. Richards

Last Thursday we were lucky enough to have a surprise visit from Mrs. Richards. We had been invited to help her plant some bulbs and plants in the pots outside the gates of the courtyard, in some hanging baskets and also some new pots which have been placed inside the courtyard beside the two pillars. We were able to plant Tulip bulbs, Daffodil bulbs and Crocus bulbs.

We learnt so much during this exciting lesson. We learnt that the Tulips have to be planted near the bottom of the pot, with the Daffodils above them and then the Crocus bulbs scattered just under the top layer of soil. The reason for this is that this is the order in which the bulbs will flower. We were extremely busy making sure that we planted all of our bulbs in the correct order but we had a great day.

Don’t forget to check out the flowers in Spring and see what a great job we did. Thank you Mrs. Richards for a lovely afternoon.
