What A Fabulous Day!

As I’m sure you’ve all been told, we had a very special visit from Turtle today from the OWLS project. We were all very industrious during school today creating our very own bird feeders.

We began with pieces of wood that had been cut from branches of trees in Donabate. They had been cut for us so that we could get straight into our drilling and hammering.

It was so great to see the teamwork going on throughout the project today. Everyone was helping, supporting and encouraging each other. Turtle was amazed with how well everyone did. Ms. Kelly was delighted that everyone managed to keep all of their limbs intact!

After the drilling it was onto the next step…hammering. The concentration levels were incredible! There was hardly a sound in the room apart from the tapping of the hammer off the hook. It was such a lovely experience for us all to have and I’m sure the class will remember it for a long time to come.

The finished product. What an incredible achievement. The children were already planning where they were going to put them in their gardens so I’m sure it won’t be long before they have pride of place in the garden. I hope you get as much enjoyment from watching the birds eat from the feeders, as we had making them.
